Wayne State University emergency physicians
are dedicated to providing quality emergency care. Our group is
unique in that we are academically based and have
very significant clinical responsibilities, including direct emergency medical
care, medical direction of the City of Detroit Emergency Medical Services and
a developing industrial medicine program.
Physicians associated with our group are actively involved in organized emergency
medicine at a national, regional and local level. We associate ourselves with
others who recognize the importance of clinical excellence, but are willing to
become active in solving the problems that face the health-care delivery industry.
Our faculty members are working with local and national governmental officials
to ensure that our emergency rooms are prepared for the threat of large-scale
disasters and bioterrorism.
Believing that research is the cornerstone of an academic discipline, we are
active in clinical and bench research. One of our full-time faculty members has
as his sole responsibility the coordination of our research program.
Wayne State University emergency physicians staff five Detroit Medical Center
emergency departments and one occupational health clinic in metro Detroit. Our
flagship hospitals are Detroit Receiving Hospital, Children's Hospital of Michigan
and Sinai-Grace Hospital, at which most of our resident and student education
take place. We also staff the Harper University Hospital, Hutzel Hospital and
Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, a newer facility in the far northwest Detroit suburbs.
