  FAMILY MEDICINE

Family practice, at its core, is a medical specialty committed to the wellbeing of the whole patient. Wayne State University family physicians evaluate their patients needs, taking into account  family, social, ethical and environmental considerations. They are dedicated to the prevention, resolution or stabilization of health problems to improve people's lives.

Services Available

University Family Physicians' board-certified family practice doctors offer a full range of medical services for the entire family, including:

  • Obstetrics/gynecology;
  • Pediatrics;
  • Sports medicine;
  • Geriatrics;
  • Minor surgery, including vasectomies; and
  • A full range of diagnostic testing for cancer and other potentially preventive illnesses.

Additionally, our board-certified Occupational and Environmental Medicine specialists provide a wide range of practical solutions to the health and safety concerns to the community at large. Occupational medicine is the specialty devoted to the recognition, prevention and clinical management of illnesses and injuries arising either directly or indirectly from work. Our Occupational and Environmental Medicine Consultant Group also focuses in on identifying, preventing and treating medical conditions arising from hazardous environmental exposures at home and elsewhere outside of the workplace.
